Tundra
A cold, treeless biome characterized by permafrost, low biodiversity, and short growing seasons. Tundra regions are primarily found in the Arctic and Antarctic.
Boreal Forest/Taiga
A forest biome characterized by coniferous trees, colder temperatures, and longer growing seasons than tundra. It is found in the northern parts of North America, Europe, and Asia.
Temperate Rainforest
A lush, coastal forest biome characterized by high rainfall, mild temperatures, and diverse plant and animal life. These forests primarily occur in temperate regions of the Pacific Northwest.
Woodland/Shrubland
A biome characterized by a mix of shrubs and small trees, often with a Mediterranean climate that features dry summers and wet winters. It supports a variety of plant and animal species, adapted to periods of drought. Risk for extreem drought and wild fires.
Tropical Rainforest
A dense forest biome characterized by high annual rainfall, warm temperatures year-round, and rich biodiversity, found near the equator. Most biodiversity of any biomewith numerous species of plants, animals, and insects, many of which are not found anywhere else in the world.
Tropical Seasonal Forest/Savanna
A biome characterized by distinct wet and dry seasons, featuring a mix of grasslands and scattered trees. It supports diverse wildlife and experiences seasonal rainfall, leading to periods of drought.
Subtropical Desert
A biome characterized by low rainfall, high temperatures, and sparse vegetation, often featuring succulents and xerophytes. These regions experience extreme temperature variations between day and night.
