Projection
A view from an anatomical cross-section along the path of the x-ray beam from one vantage point.
Topogram
A single projection used to position the field of view for CT and PET imaging.
I.S.D (Inter Scan Delay)
The delay between consecutive scans in sequence scanning methods.
Spiral (Helical) Scanning
CT method where the x-ray beam forms a spiral path around the patient during the scan.
mAs
The product of tube current and rotation time, controlling the number of photons produced.
kVp
The maximum energy of the x-ray photon, which controls the contrast in a CT image.
Slice Thickness
Determines the volume of anatomy captured by each slice in CT imaging.
Table Increment
The advancement of the patient table between consecutive sequence slices, affecting overlap.
Pitch
The extent to which the x-ray is stretched during a spiral scan, affecting coverage and scan time.
Isocentering
Positioning the patient so that the anatomy is displayed correctly at opposite tube positions.
