Nonrenewable Resources
A natural resource that is not replaced in a useful time frame.

Fossil Fuels
Coal, oil, natural gas, and other fuels that are ancient remains of plants and animals.

Petroleum/Oil
A Fossil Fuel that originally came from ancient SEA or MARINE life

Natural Gas
a fossil fuel found deep underground; a hydrocarbon gas mixture consisting primarily of methane

Coal
A fossil fuel that originally formed from ancient PLANTS in a pond environment

Trees
A renewable resource that can be replaced in our lifetime

Water
A renewable resource that will always be available through the water cycle

Animals
Animals are a renewable resource that can be replaced in our lifetime

Soil
A renewable resource described as
a loose mixture of rock fragments, organic material, water, and air that can support the growth of vegetation
Rocks
mixture of such minerals, rock fragments, volcanic glass, organic matter, or other natural resources

Alternative Energy
Sources of energy that do not include fossil fuels, such as power plants that release massive amounts of CO2 into the air. Renewable energy comes in the form of windmills, solar panels, and electricity

Solar
Sunlight that is converted into usable energy.

Geothermal
Energy from steam or hot water produced from hot or molten underground rocks.

Hydroelectricity
electricity generated by running water

Biofuels
Fossil fuel substitutes that can be made from a range of agri-crop materials such as oilseeds, wheat, corn and sugar

Thermal
Energy due to temperature.

Wind
