Id

Biological drive with the most energy, forces us to do things to fulfill our needs, run by the principal of direct satisfaction. Someone with a strong Id would be someone who doesn’t think rules apply to them, and wants to get direct satisfaction of their needs.

Superego

Formed later on, mostly during phallic stage. Represents the ideas you, the rules and norms of society, as well as values that are learned from your parents. Controls the Ids needs. Rules and needs usually crash. Someone with a strong Superego is someone who strictly follows rules.

Balances between Id and Superego, controls both. Works with the principle of delayed gratification. Takes care of Id’s needs so they are met in a socially acceptable way. Makes both Id and Superego happy. Boss in a healthy personality. Can use defense mechanisms to make our lives easier.
