Conduction
A process in which heat is transferred through stationary matter by physical contact due to a temperature difference between them.
Convection
A transfer of heat caused by the movement of particles within a fluid (liquid or gas) where the hotter (less dense) fluid rises and the colder (more dense) fluid sinks - carrying thermal energy.
Radiation
The transfer in energy in the form of electromagnetic waves, propagated at the speed of light in a vacuum. Transfers heat where no particles exist.
Convection current
The pathway in which fluid (liquid or gas) particles flow as they heat up (become less dense) and cool down (become more dense).
