Hematoma
A bruise resulting from a blood vessel injury, causing blood to escape into surrounding tissue.
Common Carotid Artery
A major artery in the neck that supplies blood to the head and neck region.
External Carotid Artery
Supplies extracranial tissues of the head and neck, including muscles of mastication, oral cavity, and facial structures.
Facial Artery
Supplies the face, including the oral, buccal, zygomatic, and nasal regions.
Maxillary Artery
The largest terminal branch of the external carotid artery, supplying deep structures of the face.
Pterygoid plexus
A network of veins located near the maxillary tuberosity.
Internal Jugular Vein
Drains most of the deoxygenated blood from the brain and face.
Cavernous Sinus
Contains venous blood, located near the brain's base; infections may spread here cause serious health risks.
Periodontal disease
A condition linked to cardiovascular disease, possibly due to oral bacteria entering the bloodstream or inflammation caused by the disease.
