Compare (Comparar)
To compare means to look at two or more things to see how they are the same or different. In math, we often use symbols like > (greater than) and < (less than) to show which number is bigger or smaller. Comparing helps us understand numbers better and see how they relate to each other!
Decimal (Decimal)
A decimal is a way to represent parts of a whole number using a dot called a decimal point. For example, the number 0.5 means 'five-tenths,' which is half of one whole. Decimals help us show numbers more precisely, especially when we talk about things like money or measurements!
Decimal Point (Punto Decimal)
A decimal point is a small dot used in numbers to show that there are parts of a whole. It's placed between the whole number part and the part after it. For example, in the number 3.14, the decimal point tells us that there are 3 whole units and 14 hundredths!
Digit (Dígito)
A digit is any single number from 0 to 9. We use digits to make up all the numbers that we see! For example, in the number 27, the digits are 2 and 7. Each digit helps us understand how big or small a number is!
Equal to (=) (Igual a)
The symbol '=' means that two things are the same or have the same value. For example, in the math sentence 2 + 3 = 5, it shows that when you add 2 and 3 together, you get the same amount as 5!
Expanded Form (Forma Desarrollada)
Expanded form is a way to write numbers that shows the value of each digit. For example, the number 245 can be written in expanded form as 200 + 40 + 5. This helps us see how much each digit is worth in the whole number!
Expanded Notation (Notación Desarrollada)
Expanded notation expresses a number's value using multiplication to reflect its place value. For example, 345=(3×100)+(4×10)+(5×1).
Greater than (>) (Mayor que)
The symbol '>' indicates that one number is larger than another. For example, in the expression 5 > 3, it shows that 5 is greater than 3.
Greatest (El Mayor)
The greatest number is the largest value in a set of numbers. For example, in the set {2, 5, 3}, the greatest number is 5.
Hundredths (Centésimos)
Hundredths refer to the fractional part of a whole when divided into 100 equal parts. For instance, the number 0.01 represents one-hundredth
Increment (Incremento)
An increment refers to a small increase or addition to a quantity. In math, increments are often used when measuring changes, such as increasing a number by 1 or another specified amount.
Least (El Menor)
The least number refers to the smallest value within a set of numbers. For instance, in the set {2, 5, 3}, the least number is 2.
Less than (<) (Menor que)
The symbol '<' indicates that one quantity is smaller than another. For example, in the statement 3 < 5, it shows that 3 is less than 5.
Number Line (Recta Numérica)
A number line is a straight line drawn across a page that shows numbers. It has zero in the middle, with positive numbers to the right and negative numbers to the left. A number line helps us see how numbers relate to each other and is useful for addition and subtraction.
One-Tenth (Un Décimo)
One-tenth means one part out of ten equal parts. If you have a whole pizza and you slice it into ten equal pieces, one-tenth is just one of those pieces! It can also be shown as 0.1 in numbers.
Order (Ordenar)
Order means to arrange things in a line based on their size or number. For example, if you have a group of toys, you can put them from smallest to biggest or from biggest to smallest. This helps us see which ones are more or less without counting them one by one!

Place value tells us what a digit in a number means based on where it is. This helps us understand how big a number is!

Point (Punto)
A point is like a tiny dot that shows a specific spot on a line or in space. It has no size, just a location! We use points to help us draw shapes or represent places on a number line.
Represent (Representar)
To represent means to show or describe something, often using symbols, numbers, or shapes. In math, we can represent numbers with pictures, graphs, or equations to help visualize and understand the concepts better.
Standard Form (Forma Estándar)
Standard form is a way to write a number using digits, with the biggest place value on the left. For example, the number 1,234 is written in standard form with '1' in the thousands place, '2' in the hundreds place, '3' in the tens place, and '4' in the ones place. It's the usual way we write numbers!
Ten Times (Diez Veces)
When we say 'ten times,' we mean we want to take a number and add it to itself ten times! For example, if we have 3 and we say 'ten times 3,' it equals 30 because 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 is 30!
