Qualitative Data

Responses consisting of words, phrases, or numbers with which we do not calculate.

Nominal Data

A type of qualitative data where words or phrases do not have a sense of order or ranks.

Ordinal Data

A type of qualitative data where words or phrases have a sense of order or ranks.

Quantitative Data

Responses consisting of numbers with which we do calculate.

Discrete Data

A type of quantitative data consisting of whole numbers or counts.

Continuous Data

A type of quantitative data consisting of measurements.

Interval Data

Data where the value of $0$ is a placeholder or random starting point and values can be negative.

Ratio Data

Data where the value of $0$ indicates none, nothing, or the usual meaning of zero.
