C-SWIPE
Chicago’s streamlined workforce Integrated Payroll Enterprise software, used to implement the CyberShift® staffing policy.
TeleStaff
The payroll program utilized by the CFD and the City, in conjunction with C-SWIPE, to verify attendance and assignment of personnel.
HandPunch® 3000
A biometric hand scanner used at City facilities, fire stations, and administrative buildings for attendance verification.
City of Chicago-Chicago Fire Department ID Card
A City-issued identification card containing a magnetic strip used for attendance verification and to obtain fuel at City fuel depots.
Platoon Members (Swiping Requirement)
Members required to swipe only once during their tour of duty.
40-Hour Sworn Members and Civilian Employees (Swiping Requirement)
Personnel required to swipe once at the start of duty and again upon the conclusion of their duty.
HandPunch® 3000 Score
A value ranging from 0 to 100, where a lower score represents better recognition of that member’s hand.
Company Journal
The record where Company Officers document that members have properly swiped or the reasons why a member was unable to swipe (e.g., lost, stolen, or defective ID card).
Rehire Swiping Procedure
A member reporting for rehire must report to the on-duty Company Officer, swipe their ID, and perform a hand scan witnessed by the Officer.
Tardy (Company Officer)
In the event a Company Officer is tardy, their immediate supervisor is required to witness the swipe.
Details (Swiping Policy)
Members shall swipe in at their location of detail; however, if already swiped in at another location for that tour, they are not required to swipe again.
Cook County Court Houses (Off-Duty Swipe)
Off-duty members appearing for CFD-related matters must swipe once upon entering and again following the conclusion of the event.
Deployments Outside of Chicago
Sustained operations at state or national disasters where sworn members or civilian employees are not required to swipe in on a daily basis.
Division of Breathing Apparatus Service
The specific division within the Bureau of Logistics that Company Officers must contact to report a damaged or malfunctioning HandPunch® 3000.
7 Calendar Days
The duration after which a house Captain or supervisor must inquire about the status of a HandPunch® 3000 repair if a work order is not completed.
