Telecommunications

Internet
The world's largest computer network, a collection of interconnected networks that freely exchange information.
Client/Server Systems
A computing architecture where servers are dedicated to special functions and clients request services from those servers.
Communications Protocol
A set of rules that governs the exchange of information over a communications channel.
World Wide Web
A system of interlinked hypertext documents accessed via the Internet, often confused with the Internet itself.
Intranet
An internal company network built using Internet and Web standards and products.
Extranet
An intranet that provides selected external users access to the internal network.
Network Types
Different classifications of networks, including PAN, LAN, MAN, and WAN.
Guided Transmission Media
Types of media that use solid mediums for transmitting data, such as twisted-pair wire and fiber-optic cable.
Wireless Transmission
Types of communication methods that do not require physical connections, including microwave and radio.

Distributed Processing
