Depressive Disorders
characterized by the presence of sad, empty, or irritable mood along with physical and cognitive changes that affect a person’s ability to function
Major Depressive Episode/Disorder
at least one of the symptoms is either a depressed mood or loss of interest or pleasure.
Sleep issues
Weight goes up or down
A sense of worthlessness, or excessive, inappropriate, or delusional guild
Recurrent thoughts of death
Persistent depressive disorder
depressed mood lasting most of the day, for more days than not, over at least 2 years in adults or 1 year in children and adolescents.
At least 2 of the following 6 symptoms:
Poor appetite or overeating
Insomnia or hypersomnia
Low energy or fatigue
Low self-esteem
Poor concentration or difficulty making decisions
Feelings of hopelessness

Bipolar Disorders
characterized by periods of mania and periods of depression.
Bipolar disorder
when someone has extreme mood changes, going from very high, energetic, or "happy" moods (called mania) to very low, sad, or tired moods (called depression). These mood changes can last for days, weeks, or even longer.
Manic episode
Elevated mood, grande autism, don’t need much sleep, super talkative, excessive activity in things that could have consequences
Bipolar 1
a person has very intense mood swings, with episodes of mania (feeling extremely energetic, happy, or even risky) that can last for at least a week or longer. These manic episodes can be so severe that the person might need help or even go to the hospital to stay safe. They can also experience depressive episodes, where they feel sad or tired
Bipolar 2
the person still has mood swings, but the mania is less severe and is called hypomania (a milder form of mania, where the person might feel energetic or happy, but they don’t get as out of control as in Bipolar 1). They also experience depressive episodes,
