Reciprocating Engines

These types of engines are widely used on smaller types of helicopters.

Fenestron

This system uses a series of rotating blades shrouded within a vertical tail.

Belt drive clutch

It consists of a lower pulley attached to the engine, an upper pulley attached to the transmission input shaft.

Tail rotor

 It is a smaller rotor mounted vertically or near vertically on the tail of a traditional single-rotor helicopter.

Clutch system

It allows the engine to be started and then gradually pick up the load of the rotor.

Turbine engines

These engines are more powerful and are used in a wide variety of helicopters.

Main Rotor Transmission

It is to reduce engine output rpm to optimum rotor rpm.

Dual Needle Tachometer

It is used to show both engine and rotor rpm or a percentage of engine and rotor rpm.

Fenestron

It is the common term used to describe the fan-in-tail rotor.

Tail rotor

It is used to eliminate torque produced by the main rotor system.
