Psychoanalytic

Focuses on our behavior and how it can be treated by our unconscious (all the things happening below our awareness) our feelings, motives etc. stem from repressed trauma

Meta-analysis

A statistical technique that combines and analyzes the results from multiple independent studies on the same research question to provide a powerful summary of the overall truth

Positive skew

Tail is in the positive—outlier scores are pulling the data in a positive direction—median is BELOW the mean

Negative skew

Tail is in the negative—low scores are pulling the data—median is ABOVE the mean

Random sample

A group of individuals selected from a larger population where every member of the pop. has an equal chance of being chosen

True experiment

A scientific procedure undertaken to make a discovery, test a hypothesis, or demonstrate a known fact

Problem solving strategies

The process of achieving a goal by overcoming obstacles

Scatterplots

Different axis’s for different variables that you are looking at. Looking for any correlations between variables.

Cognitive

Believes our personality, traits, characteristics are a result of our thoughts. Our thoughts, interpretation and inner dialogue impact our feelings and emotions

Sampling

The action or process of taking samples of something for analysis

Frequency distribution
