What does the left triangular ligament connect?
It connects the upper surface of the left lobe of the liver to the diaphragm.
How is the left triangular ligament formed and what are its medial continuations?
On the left side, both layers come close to form a free margin.
Medially, the superior layer continues with the left layer of the falciform ligament,
and the inferior layer continues with the lesser omentum.
What is the lesser omentum and what does it connect?
The lesser omentum is a peritoneal fold that connects the small curvature of the stomach and proximal duodenum to the visceral surface of the liver.
Describe the hepatic attachment of the lesser omentum.
It is L-shaped, with the vertical limb attached to the fissure for ligamentum venosum
and the horizontal limb attached to the margin of the porta hepatis.
What is ligamentum teres?
It is the remnant of the obliterated left umbilical vein
and extends from the umbilicus to the left branch of the portal vein.
What is ligamentum venosum?
It is the remnant of the obliterated ductus venosum that in fetal life connects the left branch of the portal vein with the left hepatic vein.
