The Structure of the Cell Membrane:
The cell membrane is made of a phospholipid bilayer with proteins.
This structure controls what enters and exits the cell through selective permeability, protein channels, carriers, and receptors. It's flexible and dynamic, ensuring the cell can maintain its internal environment and communicate effectively.
Explain the importance of each macromolecule to the overall function of the cells in the human body:
Proteins perform various cellular tasks, carbohydrates provide energy, lipids form structures and store energy, and nucleic acids store and transmit genetic information.
Distinguish between DNA, chromosomes, and genes then its relationship to proteins:
DNA is the genetic material, chromosomes organize DNA, genes are segments of DNA that code for proteins, and proteins perform most of the functions in the cell.
List of the levels of organization within an organism (smallest to largest):
1. Molecule
2. Cell
3. Tissue
4. Organ
5. Organ System
6. Organism
