Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder

Children (10-18) with presentations of persistent irritability and episodes of extreme behavioral dyscontrol.

Deficits in face-emotion labeling, cognitive control, and decision making

Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)

5 or more of the criteria A for the same two-week period, one of which is A1 (depressed mood most of the day, every day) or A2 (loss of interest of pleasure)

No history of mania or hypomania

Persistent Depressive Disorder

Depressed mood for at least 2 years (or 1 year in adolescents, and 2 or more of the symptoms in criteria B.

Never been without symptoms for more than 2 months.

No hypomania or mania present

IF CRITERIA ARE SUFFICIENT FOR A DIAGNOSIS OF A MAJOR DEPRESSIVE EPISODE AT ANY TIME DURING THE 2-YEAR PERIOD OF DEPRESSED MOOD, THEN A SEPARATE DIAGNOSIS OF A MAJOR DEPRESSIVE DISORDER SHOULD BE MADE IN ADDITION TO PERSISTENT DEPRESSIVE DISORDER

Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder

5 symptoms must be present the week before the period and improve a couple days after the onset of the period.

One or more of the symptoms in criteria B, and one or more of the symptoms in criteria C (added together make 5 total).

Requires a 2-month self-screen to account for a regularity

Substance/Medication Induced Depressive Disorder

Persistent disturbance in mood that predominates the clinical picture, with evidence that symptoms began during or soon after the substance intoxication/withdrawal

The disturbance does not exclusively occur during the course of delirium

Other Specified Depressive Disorder

Causes clinically significant distress in important areas of functioning, but does not meet the full criteria of any depressive disorder or adjustment disorder

Mild, Moderate, Severe, With psychotic features, in partial remission, in full remission, unspecified

Categorical Specifiers for Major Depressive Disorder

Anxious distress, mixed features, melancholic features, atypical features, mood-congruent psychotic features, mood-incongruent psychotic features, catatonia, peripartum onset, and seasonal patterns

Specifiers for PDD

Anxious distress, atypical features, partial/full remission, early/late onset, pure dysthymic episode, persistent major depressive episode, intermittent depressive episodes with/without current episode
