Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)

5 or more of the criteria A for the same two-week period, one of which is A1 (depressed mood most of the day, every day) or A2 (loss of interest of pleasure)

No history of mania or hypomania

Persistent Depressive Disorder

Depressed mood for at least 2 years (or 1 year in adolescents, and 2 or more of the symptoms in criteria B.

Never been without symptoms for more than 2 months.

No hypomania or mania present
