Two or Three Second Rule
Maintain a safe distance of 2-3 seconds behind the vehicle in front to allow sufficient reaction time and avoid tailgating.
Measuring Safe Distance
Pick a distinct stationary object on the road and count to three seconds after the vehicle ahead passes it to measure your gap.
Unmarked Intersection Right-of-Way
When two vehicles arrive at the same time, the driver on the left must yield to the vehicle on the right.
Left Turn Right-of-Way
Yield to vehicles already inside the intersection or going straight across your path before completing a left turn.
Pedestrian Right-of-Way
Yield to pedestrians crossing within a crosswalk. Pedestrians must yield to vehicles if they cross outside of a designated crosswalk.
Emergency Vehicles
You must yield the right-of-way to police, fire trucks, and ambulances operating on official business with audible sirens.
Entering from Private Road
A driver entering a public highway from a private road or driveway must yield to all approaching vehicles.
Roundabout Right-of-Way
Always yield to vehicles that are already circulating inside the roundabout or rotunda before you enter.
Through Highway or Railroad Crossing
Bring your vehicle to a full stop before crossing, or slow down to 5 mph (8 kph) if it is apparent no hazard exists.
Overtaking Rule
Pass the overtaken vehicle on the left at a safe distance and do not return to the right lane until you are safely clear.
Being Overtaken
Give way to the overtaking vehicle upon hearing their audible signal and do not increase your speed until they pass completely.
Restricted Overtaking Areas
Do not overtake on railway crossings, intersections, or where your view is obstructed within 500 feet, such as curves or crests.
Proper Lane for Turning
Vehicles turning right must stay in the rightmost lane, and vehicles turning left must use the leftmost lane.
Yellow Box Prohibitions
Never block the intersection, make a U-turn, or load/unload passengers or goods inside the yellow box.
Prohibited Parking Areas
It is strictly illegal to park inside intersections, on crosswalks, or on sidewalks and alleys not intended for traffic.
Fire Hydrant Parking Limit
Do not park your vehicle within 4 meters of a fire hydrant.
Intersection Parking Limit
Do not park or load/unload within 6 meters of an intersection.
Driveway Parking Limit
You cannot park directly in front of a private driveway or within 4 meters of its entrance.
Parked Unattended Vehicle
Whenever leaving a vehicle unattended, you must turn off the ignition, stop the motor, and effectively set the hand brake.
Red Flag for Extended Cargo
Attach a red flag (at least 30x30 cm) to any load extending more than 1 meter beyond the rear of the vehicle.
Nighttime Extended Cargo
Use red lights visible from at least 50 meters away instead of a flag at night or during bad weather.
Muffler Requirement
Vehicles must have a connected muffler; cutouts are prohibited in populated areas, and vehicles must not emit excessive smoke or noise.
Tire Restrictions
Metallic tires are prohibited on public highways to prevent metal rims from contacting the road.
Duty in Case of Accident
You must show your driver's license and provide your true name, address, and the vehicle owner's details.
Leaving an Accident Scene
Never leave the scene of an accident without aiding the victim unless you are in imminent danger, reporting to the police, or summoning medical help.
Hitching to a Vehicle
Do not allow persons on bicycles, roller skates, or on foot to hang onto or hitch a ride on the outside of your moving vehicle.
Obstructing Traffic
Do not drive or stop your vehicle in a manner that impedes or obstructs the free passage of other vehicles on the highway.
