Hedonism
A theory that suggests that pleasure is the highest good and that a good life is one that is filled with pleasure and free from pain.
False Happiness Objection
An argument against Hedonism that questions the validity of pleasure derived from artificial or non-authentic experiences.
Autonomy
The ability to direct one's own life and make personal decisions.
Pleasure
A positive experience or feeling that contributes to one's well-being.
Pain
A negative experience or feeling that detracts from one's well-being.
Net Total of Pleasure and Pain
A measure of the overall balance of pleasure and pain experienced by an individual, calculated by subtracting pain from pleasure.
