Signaling (Turning)
You must signal at least 100ft before turning.
Signaling (Freeway Lane Change)
You must signal at least 5sec before changing lanes on the freeway.
Headlight Usage (Time)
Headlights must be used from 30minutes after sunset until 30minutes before sunrise.
Headlight Usage (Visibility)
Use headlights when you cannot see 1,000feet ahead.
High Beam Dimming (Oncoming)
Dim your high beams within 500feet of an oncoming vehicle.
High Beam Dimming (Following)
Dim your high beams within 300feet when following another vehicle.
Yellow Lines
Road markings that separate traffic going in opposite directions.
White Lines
Road markings that separate traffic going in the same direction.
Double Solid Yellow Lines
Lines you may cross only for entering/exiting a driveway, making a legal left or U-turn, entering an HOV lane through a designated opening, or when construction signs direct you to cross.
Broken Yellow Line
Passing is allowed if the broken line is next to you and it is safe.
Double Double Yellow Lines (Barrier)
Considered a barrier; never cross, turn, or U-turn over them except at designated openings.
Center Left Turn Lane
A middle lane on a two-way road used only for left turns and U-turns; driving is limited to 200feet in this lane.
Parking Distance (Fire Hydrant/Station)
You must park at least 15feet away from a fire hydrant or fire station driveway.
Parking Distance (Crosswalk)
Generally 20feet from a crosswalk, or 15feet if the crosswalk has a curb extension.
Parking Distance (Disabled Access)
You must park at least 3feet away from a disabled access ramp.
Diamond-shaped Sign
A sign that warns you of specific road conditions and dangers ahead.
White Rectangular Sign
A sign that communicates important rules that must be obeyed.
Right of Way (Pedestrians)
Pedestrians always have the right-of-way.
Yield Sign
Requires you to slow down and be ready to stop to let any vehicle, bicyclist, or pedestrian pass before you proceed.
