Cardiovascular Endurance
The ability of your heart, lungs, and blood vessels to efficiently deliver oxygen to your muscles during physical activity.
Muscular Strength
The ability of a muscle to exert force in a single contraction.
Muscular Endurance
The ability of your muscles to exert force repeatedly or to maintain a contraction against resistance for an extended period.
Flexibility
The ability of a joint or group of joints to move through a full, pain-free range of motion.
Body Composition
The proportion of fat, bone, muscle, and water in the human body.
Pectoralis Major Function
Adduct, flex, and medially rotate the arm at the shoulder joint.
Latissimus Dorsi Function
Extend, adduct, and internally rotate the arm at the shoulder joint.
Quadriceps Function
Extend the knee joint.
Hamstrings Function
Knee flexion and hip extension.
Gluteus Maximus Function
Extension of the hip joint.
Trapezius Function
Scapular movement, posture, and stabilization.
Force
A push or pull that acts upon an object.
Lever
A rigid structure that rotates around a fixed point when a force is applied.
Torque
A twisting force that causes rotation around an axis.
Equilibrium
A state where a body is not accelerating.
Inertia
The tendency of a body or object to resist changes in its state of motion.
Rotary Motion
The movement of a body or segment around a fixed axis or point.
Buoyancy
Upward force exerted on an object immersed in a fluid.
Agility
Ability to change direction, accelerate, and decelerate quickly while maintaining balance and control.
Balance
Maintaining the body's center of gravity within its base of support.
Coordination
The ability of different body parts to move smoothly and efficiently together.
Power
The ability to exert strength quickly.
Reaction Time
The speed at which an individual responds to a stimulus.
Speed
The ability to move one's body quickly or to move limbs rapidly.
Ergogenic Aids
Substances or techniques used to improve physical performance.
Nutritional Supplements Function
Support muscle growth, recovery, and energy.
Blood Doping Definition
Increasing the number of red blood cells to improve oxygen transport to muscles.
Anabolic Steroids Definition
Synthetic substances that mimic testosterone to promote muscle growth.
Beta-Alanine Definition
A supplement that reduces lactic acid build-up, helping to delay muscle fatigue.
Caffeine Definition
A stimulant that increases alertness, endurance, and performance by reducing fatigue.
Conjugated Linoleic Acid
Type of fat to help reduce muscle damage and increase lean muscle mass
Chromium Picolinate
Builds muscle and promoted weight loss
Branched-Chain Amino Acids
Improve strength, power, and endurance
Protein
Building blocks of muscle
Carnitine
Helps burn fat, increases endurance and lean mass
