What are sheets?
A large flat section of metal. Comes in varying thicknesses
What is a plate?
A thick sheet of metal that is usually narrower than sheet metal
What is a bar?
A solid, flat, round or hexagonal bar of metal with a uniform cross-section
What is tube form?
Hollow in cross-section and can be square, rectangular, round or hexagonal
What are structural angular shapes?
H beams, L beams, I beams, tee bar and channels
How is metal obtained?
Mined from the ground in the form of ore. this is a mixture or the metal and other compounds. To extract the metal, crushing, smelting or heating is used. Electrolysis is also used.
What are ferrous metals?
Metals containing mostly iron and carbon
What are non-ferrous metals?
A metal that does not contain iron
What is an alloy?
A metal made from two or more elements, one of which being a metal
