3
New cards

What’s the process that happens during synaptic transmission

  • electrical impulse stimulates the release of neurotransmitters from the pre synaptic neurone

  • Vesicles release the neurotransmitters and they diffuse across the synapse

  • The neurotransmitters bind to the receptors on the post synaptic neurone

  • If after summation there is a positive charge then the electrical impulse will continue but if there is an overall negative charge then it will be inhibited

4
New cards

How do neurotransmitters bind to receptors

In a lock and key fashion

5
New cards

What i summation

When the charge in the post synaptic neurone are added up and if its positive the impulse continues and if its negative the impulse is inhibited
