Ionic Bonding
A type of chemical bonding formed between a metal and a nonmetal.
Covalent Bonding
A type of chemical bonding formed between a nonmetal and a nonmetal (no metal present).
Polar Covalent Molecule
A covalent compound that contains O or N.
Nonpolar Covalent Molecule
A covalent compound that contains only C/H.
Hydrogen Bonds
A specific attraction involving an O-H or N-H bond.
Dispersion Forces Only
The type of force present in a molecule that must be nonpolar.
Dipole Forces
Intermolecular forces found in polar molecules that do not have an O-H or N-H bond.
Most Gas-like
A physical state characterized by having the weakest force, which is dispersion only.
Most Solid-like
A physical state characterized by having the strongest force, which is ionic bonds.
