Sacraments of Christian initiation
Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, and Confession.
Sacraments
Effective signs of grace, instituted by Christ, through which divine life is bestowed upon us.
Attributes of the Church
One, holy, catholic, and apostolic.
Conscience
Helps us make reasonable judgments to determine whether our actions are moral.
Salvation
The state of being saved or redeemed from sin; all salvation comes from Christ.
Sin
Any deliberate offense against the will of God, including venial and mortal sin.
Trinity
Three divine persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, in one God.
Jesus Christ
The second divine person of the Trinity, possessing both human and divine nature.
Purpose of Creation
God created us to love, know, and serve Him and to be with Him in heaven.
Theological virtues
Faith, hope, and charity.
The Mass
Celebration of Jesus' sacrifice and reception of the Eucharist.
Grace
Necessary for obtaining salvation, received through the sacraments.
Creed
Contains the main truths of our faith.
Catholic Church
Only Church founded by Jesus Christ himself, possessing all sacraments.
Holy Spirit
The third person of the Trinity who dwells within us.
Sacrament of Confirmation
Sacrament that gives us the fullness of the Holy Spirit.
Pentecost
The day when the Holy Spirit was sent to the Apostles.
Apostles of Christ
Those who communicate the Christian faith to others.
Witnesses of Christ
Living the Christian faith and bearing witness through example.
Confirmation
Completes Baptism and enables us as witnesses and apostles of Christ.
Gifts of the Holy Spirit
Seven gifts: Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety, and Fear of God.
Holy Chrism
Oil used in Confirmation, blessed by the Bishop.
Prayer
Raising our hearts and minds to God.
Purposes of prayer
To adore God, thank Him, ask for forgiveness, and for our own and others' needs.
