Scientific notation

A method of writing very large or very small numbers using the power of $10$.

Positive exponent

An exponent indicating that the original number is greater than $1$.

Negative exponent

An exponent indicating that the original number is less than $1$.

Perfect square

A quadruple whose length and width are the same.

Ascending

Ordering numbers from least to greatest (increasing).

Descending

Ordering numbers from greatest to least (decreasing).

Real numbers

A class of numbers that includes all rational and irrational numbers.

Rational number

Any number that can be represented as a fraction $\frac{a}{b}$ where $b$ cannot be $0$.

Integer

Whole numbers, their opposites, and $0$.

Whole numbers

Natural numbers

Counting numbers.

Irrational numbers

Any number that cannot be represented as a fraction, consisting of nonterminating and nonrepeating decimals.
