Scientific notation
A method of writing very large or very small numbers using the power of 10.
Positive exponent
An exponent indicating that the original number is greater than 1.
Negative exponent
An exponent indicating that the original number is less than 1.
Perfect square
A quadruple whose length and width are the same.
Ascending
Ordering numbers from least to greatest (increasing).
Descending
Ordering numbers from greatest to least (decreasing).
Real numbers
A class of numbers that includes all rational and irrational numbers.
Rational number
Any number that can be represented as a fraction ba where b cannot be 0.
Integer
Whole numbers, their opposites, and 0.
Whole numbers
0 and counting numbers.
Natural numbers
Counting numbers.
Irrational numbers
Any number that cannot be represented as a fraction, consisting of nonterminating and nonrepeating decimals.
