ADA Title 1: Employment
eliminates discrimination, provides reasonable accommodation, and employers with more than 15 employees must provide equal opportunity for capable disabled job seekers
ADA Title 2: State and Local Government Matters
cities, towns, public schools and government employers with one or more employee must provide effective communication and services, reasonable accommodation to policy or practices, and make sure exclusion is not occurring due to inaccessibility of a building.
ADA Title 3: Public Accommodations
includes restaurants, hotels, stores and more…privately owned transportation systems are required to make all new construction or modifications are accessible and remove barriers from previously existing construction.
ADA Title 4: telecommunications
requires closed captions on federal funded service announcements and requires telecommunication + internet companies to provide accomodations’s for those that are hard of hearing.
ADA Title 5: miscellaneous provisions
provisions prohibiting a) coercing or threatening b) retaliating against individuals with disability or those trying to aid those with a disability. Also supports those trying to gain legal help maintaining their civil rights.
