Range
The value of the maximum number subtracted by the minimum number.
Median
The middle number of all the numbers laid out in order.
Symmetric graph
A graph type where the mean is used for the data.
Skewed graph
A graph type where the median is used for the data.
Dot plot
A representation of data that has dots. Use this for small data set.
Histogram
A graph used for numbers where the bars are all close together and is quantitative. Use this to see shape, skewness, and outliers
Bar graph
A graph used for categorical data where the bars are spread apart. Use to compare different categories
Skewed right
A distribution where there is more data on the left side and the mean is bigger.
Skewed left
A distribution where there is more data on the right side and the median is bigger.
Frequency
count of how often specific value occurs
Distribution
overall pattern or layout of graph, big picture
Relative Frequency
percentage
stem plot
when you split numbers like 14 becomes 1|4 and you use this to see exact data value and see the overall shape
