Population validity
Type of external validity which describes how well the sample can be extrapolated to a population as a whole
External validity
The extent to which results of a study can be enralised to other ituations and to other eople
Criterion validity
Criterion or concrete validity is the extent to which a measure is related to an outcome. This can be divided into oncurrent and redictive validity
Concurrent validity
The extent to which the results of a particular test,, or measurement correspond to those of a previously established measurement for the same construct
Construct validity
The extent to which variables in the test are effective measures of the stated aims e.g. is IQ really an accurate measure of intelligence
Face validity
The extent to which the test appears to be effective in terms of its stated aims, at first glance ; without statistical analysis
Internal validity
The extent to which the test is measuring what it aims to measure. Is the test controlled? Are the variables accurately operationalised??
