Parallel Lines
Lines living in the same plane that do not intersect.
Perpendicular Lines
Lines that intersect specifically to form right angles (90∙ angles) at all four corners.
Skew Lines
Lines that are neither parallel nor perpendicular and do not live in the same plane as each other.
Polygon
A geometric figure that must be simple (no crisscrossing), closed (separates inside from outside), and made of straight sides (line segments).
Inclusive OR
A logical connective meaning either this or that or both, including the overlap between sets.
Exclusive OR
A logical connective meaning either this or that, but not both, excluding the overlap between sets.
Imperial System
The standard English measuring system (including inches, feet, yards, and miles) where units are typically divided into fractional parts like halves, fourths, eighths, and sixteenths rather than tenths.
Metric System
A measuring system based on powers of 10 (including centimeters and meters) where sub-units are divided into tenths (such as millimeters).
Equilateral Polygon
A polygon in which all sides are congruent (equal in length).
Equiangular Polygon
A polygon in which all interior angles are congruent (equal in measure).
Regular Polygon
A polygon that is both equilateral (all sides congruent) and equiangular (all interior angles congruent).
Alternate Interior Angles
Pairs of interior angles on opposite sides of a transversal; they are congruent specifically when the intersected lines are parallel.
Same Side Interior Angles
Pairs of interior angles on the same side of a transversal; they are supplementary (adding to 180∙) specifically when the intersected lines are parallel.
Convex Polygon
A polygon that is not caved in (the opposite of concave).
Concave Polygon
A polygon that is caved in ("with a cave").
Same Side Exterior Angles
Pairs of exterior angles on the same side of a transversal; they are congruent in the special case where the transversal is perpendicular to parallel lines.
Line
A straight geometric object that extends indefinitely in both directions and has zero endpoints.
Ray
A straight geometric object that extends indefinitely in one direction and has exactly one endpoint.
Line Segment
A straight part of a line that connects two specific points and has exactly two endpoints.
