1
New cards

Photosynthesis

The process of which plants convert sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide into glucose and oxygen to sustain themselves.

2
New cards

Ecosystems

Living organisms and non-living things interacting in a specific area

3
New cards

Kingdoms

Animalia, fungi, plantae, protista, monera

4
New cards

Food web

A series of interconnected food chains.

5
New cards

How can the rate of photosynthesis be accelerated?

Plants can photosynthesize better when exposed to adequate amounts of sunlight, being watered regularly, and being in a carbon dioxide rich environment. Additionally, increasing temperature slightly, (the sweet spot is 27 degrees) can also improve the rate of photosynthesis

6
New cards

Energy definition

The ability to do work

7
New cards

What letter is energy represented by, and what is it measured in.

It is represented by the letter E, and is measured in joules

8
New cards

Types of energy, and their categories

Active: Kinetic, sound, radiant, thermal, electrical.

Stored/Potential: Magnetic, Gravitational, Nuclear, Elastic, Chemical

9
New cards

Energy efficiency equation

The equation for energy efficiency is useful energy / total energy x100

10
New cards

Law of conservation <3

Energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transformed or transferred

Conduction definition

Conduction is the transfer of thermal energy through direct physical contact with a solid. This occurs as heat is applied to solid particles, and they warm up. As they absorb the heat, they begin to vibrate gently and transfer some of the thermal energy to adjacent particles. This triggers a chain reaction of particles acquiring thermal energy, and transfering heat to neighbouring particles.
