Research Process
A systematic approach to investigating questions, including identifying a problem, conducting a literature review, designing research, collecting data, and analyzing findings.
Ethics
Principles guiding research to determine right from wrong, primarily focused on minimizing harm to participants.
External Validity
The extent to which research findings can be generalized to a broader population outside of the study.
Sampling
The method used to select individuals from a population to participate in a research study.
Independent Variable (IV)
The variable that is manipulated or changed in an experiment to observe its effect on the dependent variable.
Dependent Variable (DV)
The variable that is measured in an experiment, which is affected by changes in the independent variable.
Informed Consent
A process through which participants are fully briefed about the research, including risks and benefits, before agreeing to participate.
Qualitative Research
Research methods that aim to understand individuals' perspectives and experiences through non-numerical data.
Quantitative Research
Research methods that focus on quantifying problems through statistical analysis of numerical data.
Participant-Driven Recruitment (PDR)
A recruitment process where participants themselves lead the effort in selecting others to join the study.
