Discrimination

negative or unfair treatment of a person because of his or her group membership or identity

Racialization

occurs under a particular set of culture and historical circumstances, and different societies racialize groups differently

Ethnicity

refers to membership in a group w/ a particular history, social status or ancestry

Instrumentalism

which asserts that ethnic groups are not naturally occurring or stable but highly dynamic groups created to serve the interests of one powerful group or another

Class

to be the hierarchical distinctions between social groups in society, usually based on wealth, occupation, and social standing
