Furrowed brows indicate a question that requires more than a simple yes or no answer.

Sentence Structure:
In ASL, wh-questions often place the wh-word at the end of the sentence, contrasting with English word order.
Examples:
To ask “What is your name?”
Sign: YOU NAME WHAT?
NMMs: Eyebrows lowered, head tilted forward, lean body forward
To ask “Where is my book?”
Sign: MY BOOK WHERE
NMMs: Eyebrows lowered, head tilted forward, lean body forward

Head Position: Lean your head forward
Point back at the person when you are asking them a question.
Body Position: Lean your body forward slightly
Hold the last sign: Pause briefly on the final sign of the question to emphasize it.
Raised brows mark a question that can be answered with ‘yes’ or “no”.
Examples:
To ask “Are you married?”
Sign: YOU MARRIED YOU?
NMMs: Eyebrows raised, head tilted forward, hold the last “YOU”
To ask “Do you want to exercise?”
Sign: YOU EXERCISE WANT?
NMMs: Eyebrows raised, head tilted forward, hold the final sign.
