pituitary
thyroid (lobular and colloid filled)
pituitary
Left: thyroid, follicles filled with colloid, right: adrenal gland
anterior pituitary, lower vs high N/C ratio
Graves disease of thyroid, excess thyroid hormone
Parathyroid, chief cells, oxyphils (no hormone) and fat!
Parathyroid, can see oxiphil at top with no white, chief at bottom plus fat, lobular
only oxiphil cells, no fat or lobules, parathyroid adenoma
Secondary hyperparathyroid, lobular, dif cell types, persistence of fat? (those are my notes I don’t see it)
Adrenal cortex (blue, white, red)
Adrenal medulla on bottom section, reticularis the top
Blue: Zona glomerulosa (columnar, pyramidal cells), White: zone fasciculata (long cords of large spongy cells, lipid droplets), red (packed cells close to medulla, stained better because close to the medulla and have less lipid droplets)
Adrenal medulla, chromaffin cells
thyroid, lobular, colloid filled cells
parathyroid, oxyphils on bottom
pituitary
pituitary
thyroid
testis capsule: tunica vaginalis, tunica albuginea, tunica vasculosa
Seminiferous tubules of the testes, gametes are the white cells
Seminiferous tubule cell types
Spermategonia, migrates with clumpy chromatin to be primary spermatocyte, migrates to boarder to be secondary spermatocyte with dark pink edge and then spermatids are on the border fully condensed and compact purple
bottom left and top right
leydig cells of testes
spermatohytic arrest, too many leydig cells and only Sertoli cells in tubule
ovary, in fetus mostly cortex (blue), little medulla
old ovary, little cortex mainly medulla
ovary
ovary
primary follicle is one cell, secondary 3-5 cell layer of granuloma,
tertiary follicle ovary (has multiple cell layer granulosa, theca interna layer (round cells), and theca external more spindle cells
mature follicle, oocyte at one pole, still layers but now large antrum too
corpus luteum (oocyte ejected)
corpus albicans (progressive fibrosis and shrinkage if not fertilized)
