Straight and Luxating Elevator
Applies leverage against the tooth to luxate or loosen before extraction. Some elevators have crossbar handles
Root Elevator (cryer)
Used to loosen the root, separate and lift the tooth from the socket
Periosteal Elevator
Used to separate and retract the periodontium from the bone. Variety of shapes and sizes
Retractors
Used for retraction of the lips, tongue, and tissue. Variety of styles, many are named after the creator or school, etc.
Forceps
Identified by shaped & numbers, removes the tooth from the alveolus (socket) after it has been loosened with elevator. There are numerous styles and numbers.
