Nation State
A state or country whose territory corresponds to a particular ethnicity.
City State
A city that is also an independent sovereign state.
Stateless Nation
A group of people who share a common identity but do not have a sovereign state.
Multistate Nation
An ethnic group that is spread across multiple states.
Autonomous Region
A region within a state that has a high degree of self-governance.
Self Determination
The belief that ethnic groups have the right to govern themselves.
Micro State
A state with a very small land area.
Colonialism
The practice of acquiring full or partial political control over another country or territory.
Imperialism
A policy of extending a country's power and influence through colonization or military force.
Multi Ethnic State
A state that contains more than one ethnicity.
Nationalism
The desire for a group of people to have their own independent nation.
Czechoslovakia
A former multinational state that split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
The Kurds
An ethnic group without a sovereign state, dispersed across several countries.
Vatican City
A unique example of a micro state, independent and the spiritual center of the Roman Catholic Church.
Gandhi
A prominent leader in the Indian independence movement known for his policy of nonviolent resistance.
Nehru
The first Prime Minister of India and a key figure in the independence movement.
