CN II - Optic Nerve

Function: Sight; Sensory; No autonomic function

CN III - Oculomotor Nerve

Function: Eyeball movement (Medial Rectus, Inferior Rectus, Superior Rectus, Inferior Oblique), Movement of upper eyelid, Pupil constriction (via parasympathetic fibers); Motor; Parasympathetic (pupil constriction)

CN IV - Trochlear Nerve

Function: Eyeball movement (Superior Oblique muscle); Motor; No autonomic function

CN V - Trigeminal Nerve

Function: Sensory: Facial sensation (Ophthalmic, Maxillary, Mandibular branches), Motor: Mastication (chewing muscles); Both; No autonomic function

CN VI - Abducens Nerve

Function: Eyeball movement (Lateral Rectus muscle); Motor; No autonomic function

CN VII - Facial Nerve

Function: Sensory: Taste (Anterior 2/3 of tongue), Motor: Facial expressions, closing eyes, Parasympathetic: Saliva and tear production (submandibular, sublingual, and lacrimal glands); Both; Parasympathetic (salivation, lacrimation)

CN VIII - Vestibulocochlear Nerve

Function: Hearing (Cochlea), Balance (Vestibular system); Sensory; No autonomic function

CN IX - Glossopharyngeal Nerve

Function: Sensory: Taste (Posterior 1/3 of tongue), sensation from pharynx and tonsils, Motor: Elevates pharynx (swallowing), Parasympathetic: Stimulates salivation (parotid gland); Both; Parasympathetic (salivation)

CN X - Vagus Nerve

Function: Sensory: Chemoreceptors, visceral sensation, Motor: Swallowing, speech, heart rate regulation, GI tract motility, Parasympathetic: Regulates heart rate, digestion, respiration; Both; Parasympathetic (heart, lungs, digestive tract)

CN XI - Accessory Nerve

Function: Motor control of sternocleidomastoid and trapezius muscles (Head movement and shoulder shrugging); Motor; No autonomic function

CN XII - Hypoglossal Nerve

Function: Controls tongue movements; Motor; No autonomic function
