Meem Sakinah
A meem (م) that is free from any vowel and has a fixed sukoon when both stopping and continuing reading, found in nouns, verbs, and prepositions.
Plural Meem
An extra meem (م) free from vowels, preceded by one of the letters in the group "أهتك", and indicates the masculine plural.
Ikhfaa Shafawi (Linguistic)
Covering.
Ikhfaa Shafawi (Expressive)
Pronouncing the meem in a way between izhar and Idgham without mushaddad (shaddah) and with complete ghunna.
Ikhfaa Shafawi Letter
The letter Baa (ب).
Homogenous Letters
Two letters that agree in the articulation point (makhraj) but disagree in their characteristics.
Idgham Shafawi (Linguistic)
Insertion.
Idgham Shafawi (Expressive)
Inserting a non-voweled meem into a voweled meem so they become one mushaddad meem.
Idgham Shafawi Letter
The letter Meem (م).
Small Identical Idgham
Another name for Idgham Shafawi; 'small' because the first letter is non-voweled and the second is voweled, and 'identical' because the letters share the same makhraj, script, and characteristics.
Izhar Shafawi (Linguistic)
Clear and obvious.
Izhar Shafawi (Expressive)
Articulating the non-voweled meem from its makhraj without complete ghunna and without waqf, sakt, or mushaddad.
Izhar Shafawi Letters
The 26 letters of the alphabet remaining after excluding Meem (م) and Baa (ب).
Iqlab (Included Ikhfaa) vs. Ikhfaa Shafawi
Iqlab is a rule of Noon Sakinah where meem is inverted from noon and can occur in one or two words; Ikhfaa Shafawi is a rule of Meem Sakinah where the meem is original and occurs only in two words.
Reason for 'Shafawi' Naming
It refers to the lips, as the meem (م) and baa (ب) are both articulated from the lips.
