Hemostasis
the physiological process that stops bleeding, involving a series of steps to form a blood clot at the site of a vessel injury
Hematopoiesis
the process of blood cell formation, starting with hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) in the bone marrow

an inherited bleeding disorder in which blood does not clot properly
Agranulocytosis
a rare blood disorder that occurs when there are dangerously low levels of white blood cells in the blood; a severe form of Leukopenia

a condition characterized by having a lower-than-normal number of neutrophils, a type of white blood cell that helps fight bacterial infections

a condition in which there are too many platelets in the blood

a low platelet count, is a condition where the blood doesn't have enough platelets
Petechiae
pinpoint, red or purple spots on the skin caused by bleeding from small blood vessels (capillaries)
Sickle Cell
red blood cell disorder where abnormal hemoglobin causes red blood cells to become stiff and sticky, resembling a crescent or sickle shape
Polycythemia vera (PV)
a rare blood disorder where the bone marrow produces too many red blood cells
Anorexia nervosa
an eating disorder where a person intentionally refuses to eat causing low body weight
Anorexia
hunger is absent and that the person has no desire to eat causing low body weight
hemoglobin HgB
measures the amount of oxygen-carrying protein in the blood

measures the amount of space red blood cells taken up in the blood; reported as a percentage
