originally made fun of, but a regular presence within years. Within the decade was no longer controversial. About 20 years until academic painters begin incorporating some ideas.

painting outdoors (planar painting), celebration of brushstrokes, little preparatory or underpainting, wet on wet, mix directly on palette, colors straight from the tube, lack of specific details for overall form
