What does urban form mean?
the physical characteristics that make up built areas, including the shape, size, density and organisation of a settlement.
What does urban morphology mean?
the spatial structure and organisation of an urban area.
What are some human factors which affect urban form/morphology?
Proximity to transport- this is because businesses chose to locate near airports, people move away from such areas.
Lang value- higher demand for land in cities, so higher value for it.
Governmental laws restricting building in certain areas.
What are some physical factors which affect urban form/morphology?
Relief of the land- flat land is easier to build on, informal settlements are often found on steep land.
The availability to natural resources- areas near to raw materials are most likely to be industrial.
What are urban models?
They are used an attempt to explain the spatial patterns of land use, economic inequality and cultural diversity.
