showcases Iago’s deceptive nature, and also establishes the use of dramatic irony in the play (we know about Iago’s deceptive nature but the character’s dont)

Shakespeare uses this line to shock and provoke prejudice, framing Othello’s marriage as unnatural and threatening. Additionally, this quote highlits the racial injustice in this society, and the ways it impacts peoples perception of Othello
Cassio, Act 2 Scene 3

Highlightss the importance of good reputation in society, and how reputation is spent like a currency, and having a bad reputation means you’re considerd as less than. The use of repitition highlits the importance, and also serves as a key example of character’s changing throughout the play as a result of Iago’s actions
Handkercheif symbolism
The handkercheif acts as a symbol of fidelity to othello, so when Iago plants it in Cassio’s room it turns from a symbol of love to a symbol of infidelity, and therefore serves as a visual symbol of Othello’s growing distrust of Desdemona, and also demonstrating Iago’s manipulation.
Emilia character analysis
Is initially depicted as one of Iago’s puppets, but eventually ends up showing her wit and intelligence, eventually being the one to out Iago’s plot. This costs her life, showcasing the unjust treatment of women, and how opposing their husbands can have severe consequences

The imagery of vomiting highlights how women in society are at the mercy of men, and how they are just playthings for men to use, and how this negatively impacts women, hence the vomit imagery.

The use of disease imagery by using ‘infectious’ showcases Othello’s decaying nature and emphasising his destructive thoughts, acting as a foreshadow to Desdemona’s eventual muder. Aditionally, Othello is likening cassio to a raven, which is used to symbol darkness,
