Stoichiometry
The relationship between the relative quantities of substances taking part in a reaction. It helps predict how much of a reactant participates in a chemical reaction, how much product you'll get, and how much reactant might be left over.
Mole Ratios
The ratio between the amounts in moles of any two compounds involved in a chemical reaction.
Limiting Reactant
The reactant that is totally consumed when the chemical reaction is complete.
Excess Reactant
The reactant that is present in an amount greater than what is required to react completely with the limiting reactant.
Actual Yield
The amount of product actually obtained from a chemical reaction.
Theoretical Yield
The maximum amount of product that could be formed in a chemical reaction.
Percent Yield
The ratio of the actual yield to the theoretical yield, expressed as a percentage.
Solution
A homogeneous mixture of two or more substances.
Solute
A substance that is dissolved in a solution.
Solvent
A substance that dissolves a solute, resulting in a solution.
Molarity
The number of moles of solute per liter of solution.
