The Holocaust
The systematic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of six million Jews by the Nazi regime.
Nuremberg Laws
A series of anti-Semitic laws enacted in 1935 that prohibited Jews from German citizenship and mandated segregation.
Kristallnacht
A violent pogrom against Jews on November 9-10, 1938, marked by the destruction of Jewish property and synagogues.
Einsatzgruppen
Mobile killing units responsible for mass shootings of Jews and others in occupied territories.
Total War
A war where the distinction between military and civilian resources is blurred and civilians are targeted in military operations.
Concentration Camp
A facility where political prisoners, Jews, and other groups were detained, often in brutal conditions.
Extermination Camp
A camp designed specifically for the mass killing of prisoners, primarily Jews.
WACS
Women’s Army Corps, a unit in the U.S. Army that allowed women to serve in various roles during World War II.
Dachau
The first Nazi concentration camp, opened in 1933, used as a model for later camps.
Berlin Air Raids
Bombing raids carried out against the German capital by Allied forces, aimed at military and civilian targets.
