Atlas
A book of maps, named after the mythological figure often appearing on the cover of such collections.
Legend
The section of a map that explains the signs and symbols used to represent geographical information.
Physical maps
Maps specifically designed to show landforms.
Cartographer
A professional who draws maps and charts.
Blue
The color used in different shades on a map to represent water bodies.
Globe
A small, human-made model of the Earth that provides a simple and accurate representation of its size, shape, and location of continents and oceans.
Limitations of a globe
It is difficult to carry, provides limited space for details, cannot be made for just a part of the Earth, and is difficult to use in a large size.
Map arrow
An indicator on a map that points to the direction of the north.
