Irreversible myocardial necrosis
Usually due to acute coronary artery occlusion
What are classic MI symptoms?
Chest pressure/squeezing
Dyspnea
Diaphoresis
Nausea
Pain radiating to arm, jaw, neck, or back
What atypical MI symptoms are important to recognize?
Dyspnea
Nausea/vomiting
Back or jaw pain
Fatigue
May occur without classic chest pain
What should a PT do if MI is suspected?
Stop activity
Activate emergency response
Treat as a medical emergency
What are common treatment approaches for MI?
Reperfusion
PCI/stenting
Antiplatelet/anticoagulant therapy
CABG in selected cases
