Freedom
God's gift that enables human beings to make meaningful choices and freely respond to what is good.
Authentic Freedom
Choosing what is good, true, loving, and responsible, while considering other people's dignity and the consequences of actions.
License
Treating freedom as permission to do whatever one wants, focusing mainly on self-interest and ignoring consequences.
Christian Freedom
Freedom directed toward love, service, truth, goodness, and God, rather than simply freedom from rules.
Intellect
The capacity that helps a person KNOW: think, understand, reason, distinguish right from wrong, and consider consequences.
Will
The capacity that helps a person CHOOSE what to do.
Responsibility
Accepting and owning the effects or consequences that occur because of one's choices.
Ripple Effect
The concept that a small choice can create effects extending to oneself, family, friends, school/community, and one's relationship with God.
Freedom Compass
A decision-making model consisting of four steps: NOTICE, EXAMINE, SEE CHRIST, and WALK.
CHOOSE Reminder
A memory mnemonic standing for: Choose the Good, Honor God, Own My Choices, Observe Consequences, Serve Others with Love, and Exercise Responsible Freedom.
Digital Check
A set of three questions to evaluate before posting, commenting, or sharing online: Is it TRUE? Is it GOOD? Is it LOVING?
OWN IT
The sequence of personal accountability: OWN MY CHOICE -> OWN ITS CONSEQUENCES -> OWN MY RESPONSIBILITY.
