RC Series Circuit Phase Relationship
The phase behavior in an RC series circuit where the voltage lags the current by 90⊤ or 90∘.
RL Series Circuit Phase Relationship
The phase behavior in an RL series circuit where the voltage leads the current by 90∘.
Resistor-Capacitor (RC) Circuit
An electric circuit composed of resistors and capacitor in series driven by a voltage or current source.
First Order RC Circuit
The simplest type of RC circuit, composed of exactly one resistor and one capacitor.
Series RC Circuit Diagram
Schematic representation of a first order RC circuit driven by an AC source with capacitor C and resistor R connected in series alongside channel measurement points.
Capacitive Reactance (XC)
The oppositional parameter to AC current flow in a capacitor, calculated as XC=2×f×C1 or XC=2πfC1.
Total Impedance (Z)
The total opposition to AC current in a series RC circuit, calculated as Z = \frac{}{}\root{}\frac{}{}\root{}\rightarrow \text{or } Z = \root{X_C^2 + R^2}.
Total Current (IT)
The total current flowing through a series RC circuit, calculated using Ohm's Law as IT=ZVT.
