Depression
An emotional problem caused by unmanaged negative stress that increases the risk for chronic health problems such as heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.
Concerns as to appearance
Stressors caused by adolescent hormonal changes, such as pimples, lanky growth spurts in boys leading to stooping, and breast development in girls creating postural problems.
Weight and body image
An adolescent concern arising from changing eating habits, choosing empty-calorie foods, and inactivity, which can lead to becoming overweight or obese and experiencing a less positive body image.
Technostress
Tension, anxiety, and stress that occur when an adolescent is overwhelmed by new technology and unable to adapt and learn to use modern devices and innovations.
Negative peer pressure
An influence that occurs when a teenager is persuaded to participate in harmful or unproductive behavior, often creating family conflict and emotional problems.
