Acts of the Apostles
A book describing the actions of Jesus' apostles after his ascension, tracing the history of the Christian church from its foundation to its spread.
Theophilus
The individual to whom both the Gospel of Luke and the book of Acts are addressed, whose name means "lover of God."
We Passages
Sections in the book of Acts written in the first person, suggesting the author was an eye-witness partaking in the journeys.
Greatest Commission
The instruction given by Jesus to his disciples to be his witnesses starting in Jerusalem, through Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
Symbolism of Forty
Represents a time of trial and testing, a period of waiting or probation, and the start of another generation without Jesus' physical presence.
Ascension
The event occurring on Mount Olivet where a cloud lifted Jesus into heaven in the sight of his disciples.

A Roman centurion and devout Gentile whose vision led to the first inclusion of non-Jews into the Christian church.
